Captain: for Illustration Friday

Captain

His eyes dull and weathered. His skin tanned and leathered by the sun. On the open waters, he was a god. On shore, just another wino with a sad story to tell. He longed for the days on the high seas, but after his battle with Mother Nature, his ship was no more. He was then sentenced and reduced to the shipyard, selling small catches of fish caught at the end of the pier (and the bottle) with his stolen Wal-Mart Zebco 717 pole. All he had left were memories of sunsets over infinite horizons, and an old hat he found one hazy morning washed upon the shore.

  1. Yo, yo, yo. It's good to hear from you! I'm making my way down to Asheville next week, so hopefully while I'm there we can all hang out. That'd be fun.

In any event, nice illustration and story. Reminds me of some of the guys at Coney Island that fish off the pier there with their mysterious brown-paper bags.

Keep up the good work and congratulations on the ArtSpace thing.

What happened to August 23rd? You were doing so well: 20th, 21st, 22nd ... then nichts! C'mon, Barno - Barnyard - whateverthehell your name is. If you expect people to keep visiting this site, you're going to have to try harder than that. And what's up with that P****cat Song? Don't you know there are children using the Internets?
